First, my deepest apologies for publishing a day late. My music students are all on spring break, and I forgot what day of the week it was.
I had my first tour of the season this week. It is always fun to kick off the dust and think about how I can improve my tours.
We are coming up on the semiquincentennial of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, that being the 250th anniversary.
It isn’t until 2026, but we tour guides must practice saying “semiquincentennial” in the mirror daily to prepare.
These big anniversaries are always major events in Philadelphia. The bicentennial in 1976 saw a major redesign of Philadelphia’s Old City, creating what is now Independence National Historic Park.
